Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity Special Events

DREAMRIDE 2005

The Dream Rides Again

On August 13, local attorney Andrew Mead will once again participate in Dream Ride Projects’ annual Nightmare Tour to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.  The Nightmare Tour is a 176-mile bicycle ride around the perimeter of Lancaster County.  The route has been modified this year so that cyclists can press on to complete an even 200 miles in a single day, a goal many cyclists dream of achieving.  Habitat for Humanity continues to turn the dream of home ownership into reality for many local families by providing decent, affordable homes.  By the end of 2005, Habitat hopes to have provided affordable homes for over 100 families in Lancaster County and over 1 million world wide.

You can help by sponsoring Andrew in this ambitious endeavor.  His goal is to raise $20 for every mile he pedals on August 13.  He’s planning to complete 200 miles during the tour and raise a total of $4,000.  All funds raised directly benefit Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity and are used for local programs.  Pledges and contributions should be made out to Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity and sent to the Habitat office, noting "Andrew Mead" in the memo.

You may also volunteer your time by helping Habitat staff a water station during the Dream Ride event on July 30.  If interested in volunteering your time, please contact Juanita Fowler.  Working a water station during an event like the Dream Ride gives you the chance to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things on bicycles and help a worthy endeavor.

To pledge your support, contact Andrew directly at andrewdmead@yahoo.com or Juanita or Stacie at the Habitat office at 717.392.8836

To volunteer, contact Juanita at  Habitat at 392-8836 X 203 or lahfh.juanita@verizon.net.

Are you a cyclist interested in participating in the Dream Ride? In addition to the Nightmare Ride, DreamRide 2005 is a series of cycling tours of varying lengths throughout the month of July. To register or learn more, visit  www.dreamrideprojects.org.
