Lancaster
Habitat is always in need of volunteer individuals or groups.
Volunteers can help build a home, work with families, plan
events, raise funds, or work in the office. There are any of number of jobs available in many areas to suit your skills and
time. Please fill out the
application form and send it to Juanita at lahfh.juanita@verizon.net,

or give her a call at 717-392-8836. She will match up your
schedule and your skills with our needs.
Habitat houses are affordable to low income families thanks to
the labor donated by hard working volunteers.
Volunteers can be experienced builders or just willing workers.
Volunteers
on the work site will be guided by our Construction Supervisors.
Individuals or groups can volunteer for Habitat for a four hour
shift, a full day or a week. We work Wednesday
through Saturday, 8 am - 3:30 pm at our construction site.
Office and
committee volunteers contribute their talent and valuable
skills, enabling Habitat to do more in the community to help
families and also keep our administrative costs low. Office
volunteers are needed to help with mailings, data entry, and
other clerical duties. Office hours are Monday - Friday,
8am-4pm.
We are
currently seeking volunteers for the following committees:
-
Family

to address housing needs for hardworking families
and making your community a better place for everyone.

Youth Volunteers
We believe young people benefit by learning about and participating
in volunteer activities and encourage youth participation. Youth
groups are welcome to work with Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity
at our work sites but require special conditions.
The adult leaders of the youth
groups are responsible for overseeing their youth and supervising
all their activities. The construction supervisor will make assignments.
The recommended ratio is one adult to five
youth. We recommend that youth groups and those inexperienced at
service projects work a half-day (8am-12pm or
12:30pm-3:30pm).
Young people under the age of
16 are not allowed to work at a construction site, and those under
the age of 18 are not allowed to engage in hazardous activities
such as roofing. Workers must be 16 or older to operate power
tools.
Youth between the ages of 14-16
are limited to activities such as clearing lots, and landscaping
(weeding, planting, digging).
Children under the age of 14
are not allowed on the construction site, but may participate
in the Habitat project by helping with such tasks as preparing
and serving food, watching younger children, etc,
Youth leaders should contact
Juanita at least a month or two
in advance to schedule a workday.
